Life is sweet

Today I have a special card to show you.  I made this card for one of my Aunts.  In February my Grandpa passed away.  He was 94.  He was so ready to go home but it was still so hard to let him go.  I know many of you know exactly what I am talking about.  One of my Aunts is a beautiful seamstress, she found a pattern to take men's shirts and make them into aprons.  So after things had calmed down after the funeral she brought up this idea and asked all of us gals who would want a apron out of Grandpa's shirts.  Well, we all jumped at the chance!  They brought his shirts out and we all cried again.  We could see him in all those shirts again.  He was in a nursing home at the time he passed away so his name is on the tag of every shirt, which just makes it more special.  We all picked out or shirt - oh, by the way they are all plaid, we would like as our aprons. Just yesterday I received a package and there it was my apron made out of Grandpa's shirt.  It is something that I will treasure forever.  So this card is going to the Aunt who made me a keepsake I will keep till I pass on.  I wanted a very special card to thank her for such a wonderful gift to me.  I thought the pie was perfect because Grandpa loved pie. =)
I would like to submit this card into these challenges:
City Crafter - What's Cooking
Mojo Monday - Sketch
Aud Sentiment - Bingo - die cut, 4 word sentiment, ribbon
The pie is from Doodle Pantry and is called Cherry Pie it is a free image.  The sentiment also comes from Doodle Pantry and is from a set called Kitchen Clutter.

Oh Sarah, what a wonderful story you've shared! Takes me back to our loss and the memories I have of him. I love the gingham DP you used, the wonderful lace is reminiscent of trim on an apron and the buttons are the perfect embellie! Thank you for playing Bingo with us and Thank you for sharing your story, your project & your creativity with us!

What a wonderful memento you have of your grandfather! I have a tea cup from my grandmother, but don't use it often. This is something you'll enjoy all the time!
